Neue
Studioaufnahme der kompletten Oper Werther von Jules
Massenet, dirigiert von Yves Abel.
Andrea
Bocelli singt die Titelrolle, die er einige Male
mit großer Anerkennung auf der Bühne gesungen hat
(darunter sein Bühnendebüt in den USA)
Der
aufstrebende Mezzosopranistin Julia Gertseva singt die
Rolle seiner geliebten Charlotte. Das Booklet
beinhaltet den gesamten gesungenen französischen Text
sowie eine komplette englische Übersetzung
Nach seinen
Erfolgen in La Bohème, Tosca und dem Troubadour ist
Andrea Bocelli der Star in Massenets großer
tragischer Oper.
Die Oper,
die erstmals 1892 aufgeführt wurde, basiert auf der
Novelle des deutschen Dichters Goethe aus dem 18.
Jahrhundert, die von der aussichtslosen Liebe des
jungen romantischen Dichters Werther und der treuen
Charlotte erzählt, die ihrer sterbenden Mutter
versprochen hatte, einen anderen Mann zu heiraten.
Vor der
Kulisse des Deutschlands des späten 18. Jahrhunderts
ist Massenets Werther in dem plüschig-romantischen
Stil des späten 19. Jahrhunderts in Paris
geschrieben. Massenets große Gabe war das Gefühl für
tief empfundene Melodien, und Werther enthält einiges
seiner schönsten und ergreifendsten Musik.

Following the success
of La Bohème, Tosca and Il Trovatore,
Andrea Bocelli stars in Massenet's great tragic
opera.
First performed in
1892, Massenet's opera is based on the 18th Century
novel by the German writer Goethe which tells of the
doomed love between the young Romantic poet Werther
and the faithfull Charlotte, who promised her dying
Mother that she would marry another man.
Set in Germany in the
late 18th Century Massenet's Werther is written
in the plush romantic style of late 19th Century
Paris. Massenet's great gift was for deeply felt
melody, and Werther contains some of his most
beautiful and deeply felt music.
The title role of Werther
is one of the most intense and dramatic tenor roles in
all opera and a superb showcase for Andrea Bocelli.
Ranging from the heights of joy to the depths of
suicidal despair, Werther is swept along on waves of
Romantic emotion until the searing drama of the final
scene and his dramatic suicide and death in the arms
of his beloved Charlotte.
