From January 19 through January 23, in his fourth opera role, he successfully portrays the title character of Amico Fritz in Mascagni's opera of the same name at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Italy. His partner is Cecilia Gasdia, conductor Steven Mercurio.

On January 27 and 28 at the Munich Staatsopera, Germany, he sings the tenor part in Verdi's Messa da Requiem. At his side, among others, soprano Renée Fleming, under the direction of Zubin Mehta.

On March 19 the CD of the
Messa da Requiem is released with Andrea as the tenor, this time conducted by Valery Gergiev.

From March 22 until April 6 he once again tours North America, accompanied by Cecilia Gasdia and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marcello Rota, and sells out venues holding up to 20,000.

At a May 21 gala, he presents the Italian TV "Telegatti" award to one of his biggest fans, Elizabeth Taylor

On June 17, on the occasion of the reopening of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, he gives an impressive benefit concert for the Italian medical foundation ARPA in the park of San Rossore in front of 5000 spectators.

This album will sell millions just in a few weeks and will become the biggest selling album in the world, the new number one on the CNN Worldbeat Global Album Chart. It will spend two weeks at number three on the official UK album chart, the highest chart position ever for a foreign-language pop album.

October 17 and 18 with a solemn concert he opens the celebrations on the occasion of the 200th birthday of Vincenzo Bellini in Catania, Sicily.
